the house is as described and the photos do it justice. as this house is clearly someone's home (Kates mum) there are a lot of personal effects and clutter in the house which makes it difficult to totally relax and feel like the place is exclusively yours. however I knew the house would be this before I arrived so it's not a negative just an observation. the garden is nice but unfortunately the weather wasn't great for our stay. we only managed to sit outside on the decking on our last evening but it is a nice place to unwind with a good book and a glass of wine.the town of St Just is lovely. it has enough shops, cafes and pubs to make it worth a visit and it can be walked from the house in about 25 minutes. Cape Cornwall is a beautiful place and worth multiple visits at different times of the day. I'd recommend fish and chips on the cliffs edge whilst watching the sunset.

Great location, there is a single track lane to the house, but fine with our SUV.Lovely place, homely.

We had a wonderful stay at Kate's beautiful house, tucked away peacefully near St. Just. It's clear that this is a much loved 'real' home, rather than an anonymous holiday rental. Everything was clean, tidy, and beautifully set up for us. We loved the peace and quiet of the secluded location, and it was a lovely place to spend some rainy days alongside visits out to the beach when the sun came out.Kate was an extremely responsive and helpful host, although we never had a chance to meet in the time we were there. She always responded promptly and helpfully to any requests or queries that we had about the house. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would highly recommend it to anyone.

I always wanted to stay in an old house in the midst of natural beauty. This house had everything that we needed to stay and cook. Love and blessings reverberates through the cozyness and the warmth of all objects. Kate was always available. She was even worried about us reaching the place as we were heading there at night. It is just a few meters off from the highway. All scenic spots are accessible in Penzance.

We had a good stay at Kate's place and, with three generations including teenagers and a dog, were really pleased with the versatile living areas. The aga was a new experience for us but we adapted to it's ways easily enough after the first night! Note; for those that like quick convenience, there is no electric kettle or toaster. The cottage is well placed for beautiful Sennan Beach and St Just and is within easy travelling distance to all main attractions in the Penzance area. Kate's place is very much a home, furnished with many personal items, and adult themed artwork and photographs.Kate answered queries and sorted out issues quickly.

We had a fabulous time at the Counthouse. Two families with teenagers, 8 yr old and 2 dogs all loved our stay. The house is beautifully laid out for relaxed living. It was like staying at a friend’s house which is in contrast to the stark neutrality of some airbnbs. Thank you Hilly for letting us stay in your beautiful home.Only one bit of advice - once you find the house using the directions given down a v bumpy road you can then use the road directly opposite the house which is much shorter and less bumpy!

We had an amazing stay at the Count house. It’s homely bohemian feel was perfect for us.It was amazing hot while we stayed there so we really appreciate the beautiful garden and outside seating area, which we used everyday. It was interesting using an aga for the first time, so was glad about the gas rings to help when required. The owner Hilly was lovely and welcoming and always on hand if required. We wanted a peaceful chilled out holiday with access to beautiful beaches, walks and megaliths and this was a perfect location for exploring all of these. We will definitely go back!

Our family had a wonderful stay here. The house is full of character with my favourite part being the kitchen / Aga area - we spent many happy hour cooking & eating there. The house is well placed for Sennen beach and the nearby town of St. Just which has some good independent shops & cafes. As mentioned in other reviews one downside is the very bumpy track up to the house - however we got used to it and it didn't detract from our stay. The owner Hilly was always on hand to help if needed and was very welcoming.

The Count House is in the most wonderful position outside St Just, ideal for the north, west and south coast of the West Cornwall peninsula. I rented it for a month and had a collection of friends, grown up children and dogs visiting throughout (between 2 and 7 people). We are all keen walkers, and the landscape never failed to amaze us with its beauty. The downstairs layout of the house is excellent, large kitchen, snug sitting room with log burner (you have to provide your own logs/coal etc) and comfortable outside deck. The bedrooms are slightly strange in their format: the main bedroom has a double and single bed , the 2nd bedroom has a small single bed at floor level and a small double bed up a alternate paddle single staircase, with limited headroom above the bed, not for the faint hearted! The bunk room is for small people only, again limited headroom throughout (an adult can just about squeeze in the bottom bunk, but not the top). The 2 bathrooms work well (one upstairs and a shower room downstairs). The kitchen is well equipped with cooking utensils. Cooking is on a 2 door oil Aga. There is a small 2 ring gas hob also. There is no toaster, microwave, nor BBQ.This is very much a family house, full of possessions and has a homely feel throughout. Hilly is the point of contact on arrival (she is Kate's mother) and she kindly left us bread, butter, Cornish mead, all much appreciated. We did have issues with this letting however as follows:Wifi - this was not working on arrival and despite Hilly's valiant efforts with EE, was only sorted out on Day 24 out of a 28 day stay. Mobile reception is just about 3G upstairs at the back of the house, and although we could hot spot off our phones, this was an unreliable and very slow system, using up much data, and our millennial children had to decamp to the local cafe to work.Aga - this sooted up several times during our stay, and had to be turned off on 3 occasions to cool down, and wait for the Aga repair man to come. Cooking was very limited during this time to 2 gas rings (not great if you have a house full).Rodents - there are a few... eating through food packets in the food cupboard that we were allocated. Kate came and tried a humane trap, but this did not deter/catch any of our furry friends.Security -there are no keys, front nor back door. The house is in a very rural position, and this did not unduly concern us as a party, but if you like to lock up when you go out, this is not the house for you!Hot water - there is a combination boiler, but strangely the HW is on a timer, with a small window of operating hours. Outside these times, you need to advance the setting to get HW, and you cannot run the bath at the same time as the shower nor the kitchen sink, as one will go cold.Quiet enjoyment of the property - Hilly and her extended family live in lodges and caravans on the large plot surrounding the house. Some are let out on airbnb etc. We had much of the family post/parcels delivered to the Count House, which necessitated daily pick ups, and together with the above issues, we had frequent visits from the owners. This did not really trouble me, but some of my guests found it intrusive, especially the evening visits.Point of contact - this is very much Hilly's house, and although I communicated with Kate prior to the letting, all contact once I was there was with Hilly. To sum up, a wonderful large family house, with atmosphere and full of character; if you do not want a sterile rental box but a real home for your travels, and as long as you can put up with some aspects not being perfect, book up now!
